2019 Gaiety Panto Stage Manager

We are looking for a Stage Manager to run our panto from 4th November 2019 until 5th January 2020. Background The 2019 panto, Jack and the Beanstalk, will be the Gaiety’s first in house panto. Under the leadership of director Ken Alexander, we have put together an outstanding creative team and we are in the final stages of casting. The show will involve 10 cast, three teams of junior dancers and a live band of three musicians. Set is being provided by Glitter Pantomimes and will involve several set changes and flying. There will be some pyro and possibly other SFX, and a giant, a cow and a beanstalk. However The Gaiety is not a big theatre (500 seats) and so there will not be major effects or heavy scenery etc.

Unlike most theatres in the UK we’re largely run through voluntary effort. Most of the people undertaking front of house, technical, fundraising, marketing and maintenance duties, are doing so on a voluntary basis. Our volunteers hard work, determination and dedication keep your local theatre alive.

  • Box Office – serving customers, answering queries from members of the public, selling tickets for all shows and processing payments.
  • Marketing – distributing the seasonal brochure to local areas, leafleting shows, assisting with tactical campaigns and acting as brand ambassadors.
  • Front of House – ushering duties for all Main Auditorium and Studio Theatre performances.
  • Technical – assisting with lighting, sound, set and scenery for over 250 productions each year.
  • Heritage – engaging with communities, creating resources for schools & care homes and delivering events & exhibitions
  • Fundraising – working with our Fundraising Coordinator to promote campaigns.
