History of The Gaiety

The Gaiety has been a key part of Ayr Town Centre since 1902.  Two fires, two World Wars, the challenge of cinema and television, take-overs, threatened demolitions, shortage of money and two pandemics have made for a bumpy road.  But the theatre remains at the heart of culture in Ayrshire.  If you want to find out more about the history and heritage of the building, this is where to start travelling back to the Gaiety…
