Written and performed by Mia Thomas.
An opportunity to attend a sharing of a short drama piece from UWS student Mia Thomas, who presents a visceral, avant-garde solo performance, blending multimedia and personal storytelling to explore her experience of Poland Syndrome (a birth defect characterised by an underdeveloped chest muscle and short webbed fingers on one side of the body). Using film projections and physical theatre, the piece reflects on themes of self-acceptance, identity, perception of the body and fear of the unknown. A thought-provoking immersive journey that challenges assumptions about disability, and forces the audience to engage with vulnerability. Celebrating resilience and the power of Mia’s storytelling through her performance, showcasing the power of the disabled body in performance.
