Acts of Resilience is an exciting, and timely, collaborative devised piece. Three youth theatres – Firefly Arts (Livingston) ,1812 Youth Theatre (York) and BRONKS (Brussels) – will engage online and in person to create a brand-new performance that explores and celebrates resilience. This performance will respond directly to pressing issues of mental health, political turmoil and climate change whilst finding commonalities and differences in a celebration of youth and performance on an international level.

Followed by Post Show Discussion for both performances

Scotland’s National Festival of Youth Theatre (NFYT) creates an explosion of young creative talent. It is a celebration of the power of youth theatre, and is the largest gathering of youth theatres in the UK.

NFYT enables young people to celebrate a shared passion, and so offers them opportunities to develop as artists and creative thinkers. With an emphasis on inclusion, education and collaboration, NFYT aims to remove barriers, teach valuable life skills, and provide extraordinary new experiences.

Pitching its marquee in Ayr for the fourth festival in a row, the National Festival of Youth Theatre (otherwise known as #NFYT2024) features performances on The Gaiety main stage from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 July. Work will be presented by young performers from across the UK, in collaboration with international youth theatre groups. The line-up includes At The Root Theatre (West Lothian), The Gaiety Young Company (Ayrshire), CentreStage Dance Theatre (Kilmarnock), Follies Barne og Ungdomsteater / Children and Young People Theatre (Stavanger, Norway), Firefly Arts (Livingston), 1812 Youth Theatre (York), BRONKS (Brussels, Belgium), Theatre Alliance (Kilmarnock), NFYT & Sanctuary Queer Arts (All Scotland), and Glasgow Acting Academy (Glasgow)
