Raw Material in association with Beacon Arts, present ‘SCOTS – The Musical’ by Scott Gilmour & Claire McKenzie, Directed by Jemima Levick and Designed by Kenny Miller. The musical history lesson no-one asked for but everyone needs! SCOTS is the story of Scotland. Its past, present and future. Its people and places, triumphs and failures. All told by a figure who has seen it all… Someone who witnessed the Picts and the Celts unite; who survived the battles of Stirling and Bannockburn; who heard the declaration of Arbroath; who witnessed Scottish Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution, the charge for women’s rights, the battle for gay rights, the call for Independence – basically someone who’s seen some amount of s**t – Scotland’s greatest invention … The Toilet!
SCOTS is an irreverent, hilarious and poignant journey through the history of Scotland. A multi-skilled ensemble retell some of our nation’s most iconic (and some forgotten) stories, all to answer the fundamental question: What makes a country?
Following ecstatic reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe, this ‘truly incredible’ (Broadway World) show has been upscaled and is now touring main stages across Scotland, as a Raw Material production, in association with Beacon Arts Centre.
