Taking inspiration from the tent shows that roamed the American South in the 1930s, Nicole Smit (The Blueswater, Queens of the Blues), and Tenement Jazz Band (Best Band, Scottish Jazz Awards 2022) have banded together to re-envision the format for the European North in the 21st Century. Enlisting some of Edinburgh’s finest musicians, Kat Brooks, Mike Kearney and Vid Gobac, to complete the team, this show aspires to immerse the audience in the spirit of joyous entertainment.
Playing with a repertoire of popular music from an era before the jazz & blues genre were defined, this show is not a museum piece, it is a space where performers and audiences are joined together in a lot of music, a fair bit of dancing and a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek. Not to be missed!
